Many People have different mindsets. Some may strictly have a Fixed-Mind Set, where they may take "the easy way out" and go with what they are comfortable with and go with the one where they KNOW they will pass. Others may strictly have a Growth-Mind Set, in this mind set, the person would go for the harder path, where they may fail, but they will be satisfied for learning something new and getting the "feel" for it. And many people including me are a little of both. To get a better understanding of how a person may be both, a fixed-mind set and growth-mind set, I wanted to share some of my personal experiences with these 2 mind-sets.
When I'm with my friends and we play sports, I usually suggest basketball first, only because I know that is my strongest sport. If they refuse, I usually name every sport I can think of before they say soccer, which if you can tell, is my weakest sport. I just don't know why I don't enjoy soccer…maybe because all my friends had soccer lessons and I only had basketball lessons? I know if I practice I can improve on my "soccer-skills" but for now my mind set is fixed that I can NOT play soccer.
But…when I talk in front of people I have a growth-mind set. I want to keep doing it, even if I fail, that way I will succeed when I get older. Being a person who is a little of both I can totally relate this to school. In school I have a little of both mind sets. I tend to use the growth-mind set more because I want to learn.. but my fixed-mind set overtakes me telling me I cannot fail.
Having these mind sets can affect you, and your personality tremendously. Controlling these mind sets can strengthen your capability and expand your talents. So, what mind set are you, fixed or growth?
